Accredited Home School Curriculum

When choosing a home school curriculum, there are many things to consider. One of the most important choices to make is whether or not to choose a home school is whether or not to choose an accredited home school curriculum. Many people do not understand exactly what the accrediting process is or what it means.
The accrediting process for a home school curriculum is the same as it is for public or private schools. It is a long and rigorous process that can take an entire year or more. These self-studies set out to verify that the school actually accomplishes its mission statement and its goals. The process also helps the school to see if it has fulfilled its mandate to find out what students are learning. Furthermore, the study looks to measure student learning to see if the goals, mission statement and curriculum are helping students in the learning process and to what extent the school needs to improve.
Having survived the accreditation process myself in public school, I can attest to the reliability of this process. Every facet of the school is evaluated, improved, and studied. After the self-evaluation process come the written part. Committees write a complete evaluation of the school and include all facets of the self study. This arduous process will reveal any weaknesses that need improvement. Parents, students, teachers, and administrators all take part in the accreditation process.
When the compiled report is completed, a visiting team of peer teachers come to the school to evaluate all parts of the school’s educational process and ensure that the school is meeting accreditation guidelines. When a home school program is accredited, graduating from this school is the same as graduation from a regular public or private school that has also passed accreditation.
One of the most important reasons to avail yourself of an accredited school is that particularly the more prestigious colleges and universities regard accreditation as a test of the school's validity. Choosing an accredited home school educational program for your child is a good idea, especially if getting into a good college or university is your goal or that of your child.
